Found primarily in South America’s lowland rainforests, Prefers tropical forests with high humidity, usually residing in the canopy close to rivers and swamps. A carnivore that feeds primarily on birds, small mammals (such as rodents), and bats.
It is an ambush predator, waiting for prey to pass by and striking with speed and precision. Most active during the night when it hunts. Lives almost entirely in trees, often coiled around branches in a distinctive posture with its head in the center of the coils.: It is non-venomous but may bite if threatened. Its primary defense is remaining still and relying on its camouflage.
