Spectacled caiman (Caiman crocodilus) is a small crocodilian found in Central and South America, named for the ridge between its eyes resembling glasses. Reaching up to 2.5 meters, it has olive-brown scales and thrives in wetlands and rivers. A carnivore, it preys on fish, birds, and small mammals, helping balance aquatic ecosystems. Classified as Least Concern, it adapts well but faces threats from habitat loss and poaching.

Here at the Tamshiyacu Tahuayo Comunal Reserve this specie of caiman is a very common aimal to spot, even not to many meters from our lodge we have the chace to see this incredible creatures at night excursions
