Transportation

Our rates include pickup from the airport or hotel on the first day of the tour. To reach the Lodge, we use our private transportation (van and speedboat), as there is no public transportation available.

Our transportation departs from Iquitos to the Lodge every day at 9:30 AM, and from the Lodge to Iquitos at 1:30 PM, arriving in Iquitos at 4:00 PM.

To follow our itineraries, we suggest arriving in Iquitos one day before the start of the tour or on the same day before 9:00 AM. For the return flight to Lima, we recommend departing one day after the tour ends or on the same day after 6:00 PM.

Our transfers are flexible. The land and river route allows us to transport travelers who arrive in Iquitos up to 2:00 PM. If your flight to Lima is before 6:00 PM, we can transfer you to the airport earlier than our regular schedule so you can catch your flight at no extra charge.

We will pick you up from the airport if you arrive early in the morning and take you to the city center so you can have breakfast at a restaurant and enjoy a short city tour while waiting for our departure time to the Lodge (9:30 AM). If you are already in Iquitos, we will pick you up from your hotel between 9:15 AM and 9:30 AM.

If the traveler chooses to return to Iquitos before the tour ends, an additional fee of US$150 will apply for transportation. Please note that no refunds are available for unused days. Curassow Amazon Lodge cannot be held responsible for extra costs resulting from flight delays, schedule changes, or other circumstances beyond our control.

You must report any special assistance you may require at the time of booking. Please note that, due to the nature of this experience, travelers will be exposed to a hot and highly humid climate. Activities include hiking in the jungle over uneven terrain, as well as boarding and disembarking from boats. Additionally, the lodge does not offer optimal conditions for comfortable wheelchair use.

For the safety of pregnant women and their babies, visits to the Lodge are recommended only up to the 31st week of gestation. If the pregnant traveler has experienced any medical complications or hospitalizations within the last 30 days, it is strongly advised to consult a physician for medical clearance before traveling to the Amazon and staying at the lodge.

In the case of travelers with physical, sensory, or cognitive disabilities, we regret that we are unable to provide individual assistance for activities such as walking, eating, boarding or disembarking boats, or other personal needs. Therefore, travelers must be accompanied by a qualified companion, over 18 years of age and physically capable of assisting the traveler throughout their stay at the Lodge, assuming full responsibility for their well-being. This companion will be charged 50% of the regular rate.

Travelers must have a passport or legal identification valid for at least six months at the time of entry into Peru. Citizens of South American countries are only required to present a valid national identity document.

All itineraries are subject to modification without prior notice due to climatic, fluvial, or social conditions, in order to ensure the safety and best possible experience of our travelers.

Travelers must be in good physical condition in order to fully enjoy the jungle experience. The high heat and humidity of the Amazon region may cause discomfort or dehydration, particularly for those unaccustomed to such conditions. Activities include travel by boat, requiring embarkation and disembarkation, as well as excursions that may involve hiking on uneven or slippery terrain. All of these activities may require a certain level of physical effort.

The mosquito species responsible for transmitting malaria and other vector-borne diseases is not endemic to our area; therefore, our area is free from epidemics such as malaria, dengue, and yellow fever. Nevertheless, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) may recommend preventive medication when traveling to this region of Peru. Some guests have reported side effects after taking such medications, including nausea, headaches, loss of appetite, and other adverse reactions. As these medications may cause significant side effects, we strongly recommend consulting with a physician before beginning any preventive treatment.

Travelers are strongly advised to obtain travel insurance that covers medical expenses, loss of personal belongings, and flight cancellations or delays. Curassow Amazon Lodge assumes no responsibility for the loss of personal items, money, jewelry, or other valuables. Guests are advised to leave jewelry and valuable belongings at home or in the custody of their hotel.

Passengers must inform us of any dietary requirements or special diets at least fifteen (15) days prior to the start date of the program. Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate special dietary needs, subject to the availability of products in Iquitos.

We recommend leaving any luggage you do not wish to take into the jungle in the custody of your hotel or at the Curassow Amazon Lodge office in Iquitos, so that you bring only what is necessary. Our bungalows (rooms) are equipped with a table for luggage and clothes hangers to ensure a more comfortable stay in the jungle.
