Where is Curassow Amazon Lodge located?

Curassow Amazon Lodge is strategically located 110 km upstream, south of the Iquitos city, on the banks of the Yanayacu River, a small tributary of the mighty Amazon River. Located within the Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo Regional Communal Conservation Area (ACRCTT), which covers more than 420,080 hectares. Our ecolodge is surrounded by abundant flora and fauna. The biodiversity within this conservation area is truly exceptional, as highlighted by a comprehensive biological inventory conducted by the Field Museum in Chicago. Our activities within this Communal Reserve place us in the heart of some of the ecosystems with the greatest biological diversity in the entire Amazon rainforest. Within the protected boundaries of this area, you will find primates, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, birds, medicinal plants and giant trees. For wildlife enthusiasts seeking an immersive and diverse experience, Curassow Amazon Lodge offers a unique gateway to the wonders of the Amazon rainforest.

Curassow Amazon Lodge stands out as a family ecolodge, guaranteeing travelers a combination of safety and comfort, while preserving the authentic experience of being immersed in the jungle. More than 70% of our ecolodge is built with local materials, respecting indigenous architecture and encouraging connection with nature. Our commitment to environmental sustainability is evident through our use of solar energy. Each bungalow is equipped with anti-mosquito mesh on doors and windows, its own bathroom and balcony with hammocks and a beautiful view. One of our key features is the exclusivity of our wildlife excursions: each traveler, couple, family or group of friends enjoys a private guide. Another advantage is our location, the ecolodge is far from the communities in the area and other Lodges, the noise of engines, boats, the presence of many people and other tourists do not contaminate our private environment, allowing all our travelers to connect with nature in an intimate and safe home.

The city of Iquitos is located 1:30 Hrs. by plane from the city of Lima, if your flight arrives at night, you will be able to enjoy the city and in the morning of the next day, together with your private guide, your adventure in the jungle will begin, we will pick you up from your Hotel between 9:15 and 9:30 AM. If you arrive on the same day of your excursion, we will pick you up from the airport at the time you indicate, we can transfer you to the Lodge until 2:00 PM without extra costs.

Unlike other Lodges located downstream and very close to Iquitos, Curassow offers a true experience for observing wildlife in its natural habitat. Our strategic location allows us to guarantee our travelers the observation of wild animals without having to visit butterfly farms, serpentariums or rescue centers where animals are kept in captivity. We believe in the authenticity of the Amazon experience and focus our private excursions. Unlike other Lodges that make visits to tourist tribes, tourist recreation, shaman houses and artisanal liquor distillation factories. Curassow prioritizes excursions that foster a connection with pure nature.

We are committed to responsible ecotourism; our goal is to provide a genuine escape from the stress of the city.

Curassow Amazon Lodge can be visited all year round. Each season has its benefits: during the dry season, when the river level is low (July to February), we offer hiking in primary jungle, there are fewer mosquitoes and you can enjoy the beaches of the Amazon River. With the rising season, the river level is high (March and June) it is possible to navigate through the jungle under the trees in canoes/kayaks and follow the same hiking routes. Every day of the year we ensure the observation of wildlife in their natural habitat.

While we cannot offer a guarantee that you will be able to see specific animals, such guarantees are usually made only by zoos. At Curassow Amazon Lodge we assure you a wide variety of activities to observe wildlife, thanks to our location in the heart of the Amazon jungle.
