If using American Dollars or Euros, ones, fives, and tens are the best bills to take. You should put your money in small snack bags so they don’t get damaged or wet from the humidity. In Peru, they will not take money that is considered damaged. You have to order brand new bills from your bank; the money you use in Peru must be undamaged. The Peruvians will not take any money that looks old, wrinkled, torn or a creased. This is throughout Peru. If you plan on changing money in Peru for Soles, you must also use new and undamaged bills.
Inform your bank you are travelling international. Bank cards will not be valid without this notification.
