TRANSPORTATIONS
Curassow Amazon Lodge rates include pickup from the Iquitos airport to our office, from there to the Lodge and from our office to the Iquitos Airport. To get to the Lodge our private transportation (Van and speedboat) is used since there is no public transportation available.
Our transports departs from Iquitos to the Lodge every day at 9:30 AM; They leave the Lodge towards Iquitos at 2:00 PM. arriving in Iquitos at 4:00 PM. To comply with this itinerary you must arrive in the city one day before or on the same day the program starts before 9:00 AM. For your return flight to Lima, it is suggested one day after our program ends or the same day after 6:00 PM. Our new land and speedboat route allows us to transport travelers who arrive in Iquitos until 2:00 PM. If you have a short itinerary, please let us know so we can give you an itinerary according to your flights. All scheduled arrival and departure transfers have no extra charges.
If the traveler voluntarily decides to return to Iquitos before concluding the excursion, they must pay an additional US$150 for the costs of private transportation not scheduled in advance; there is no refund from Curassow Amazon Lodge for unused days. Curassow Amazon Lodge is not responsible for cost overruns generated by flight delays or postponements or other factors beyond the control of our company.
PASSENGERS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
You must report any special attention you will require at the time of booking. Remember that due to the nature of the experience, the traveler will be in a hot and high humidity climate. You must go hiking in the jungle (irregular terrain), as well as boarding and disembarking boats. Also, the hostel does not meet the ideal conditions for wheelchair use with comfort.
For the safety of pregnant women and their baby, it is suggested to visit the Lodge until the 31st week of gestation. If the pregnant woman has presented any decompensation or hospitalization in the last 30 days, it is better to consult with a doctor who authorizes the trip to the Amazon and the Lodge. In the case of people with physical, sensory or cognitive disabilities, we regret not being able to provide individual assistance to a traveler to walk, eat, get on and off boats and other needs, so you must travel with a qualified companion, over 18 years old and physically able to assist the traveler during their stay in the lodge, assuming responsibility for their well-being. This companion will pay half the rate.
TRAVEL DOCUMENT AND VISAS
Travelers must have their passports or legal identification valid for a minimum term of six months at the time of entry to Peru. Countries in South America are only required to have a national identity document.
ITINERARIES
All our itineraries are subject to changes due to climatic, fluvial and social conditions without prior notice, to ensure the best experience for the traveler.
HEALTH
Travelers must be in good health to make the most of the jungle experience. The high humidity and heat of the Amazon can cause discomfort in those not used to it or dehydration. Activities include the use of boats so it will be necessary to embark and disembark, as well as excursions that may include hiking on irregular or slippery terrain; All this may require some physical effort.
Malaria and yellow fever: The mosquito that carries malaria and other diseases is not endemic in our area, which means that it is free of epidemics such as malaria, dengue and yellow fever. Despite this, the Center for Disease Control recommends anti-malaria medications when visiting this region of Peru. Some of our guests have experienced nausea, headaches, stomach pains and other side effects after taking anti-malarial medications. Anti-malaria medications can have significant side effects, so we recommend consulting your doctor.
FOOD REQUIREMENTS
Passengers must report on their food requirements or type of diet at least 15 days in advance of the program start date. Every effort will be made to meet special diets according to the products available in Iquitos.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
Travelers are advised to have travel insurance that covers medical expenses, loss of belongings and loss of flights. Curassow Amazon Lodge assumes no responsibility for belongings, money, jewelry or other lost valuables. It is recommended to leave jewelry and valuable belongings in your home or in the custody of your hotel.
LUGGAGE
It is recommended to leave the luggage that you do not want to take to the jungle in the custody of your hotel or in the Curassow Amazon Lodge office in Iquitos. We recommend taking only what is necessary for your stay in the jungle. Our Bungalows (rooms) have a closet for wardrobe and suitcases to make your stay more comfortable while you are in the jungle.
