In honor of the Piurí, Crax Globulosa or Wattled Curassow in English, is an endangered bird. The species is one of the largest birds in the Amazon rainforest and has characteristics similar to those of the domestic peacock. They were so abundant in the Amazon that they lived with chickens in the villages. They were easily hunted by the villagers, their excessive consumption became more common every day due to the increase in population, until they were believed to be extinct 60 years ago. Today, thanks to our conservation programs together with the communities of the Tamshiyacu – Tahuayo Reserve, we have managed to ensure that this species could be seen again in our area near the Lodge.
It is for this reason that we have considered naming our Lodge with the English name of this beautiful bird in the Peruvian Amazon: Wattled Curassow.
Our 10 Bungalows have a private bathroom, balcony with hammocks and a beautiful view of the Yanayacu River or the surrounding jungle. The doors and windows are protected with anti-mosquito nets. Each bungalow has electrical outlets that will provide you with energy to charge batteries of cell phones, laptops, flashlights and small appliances. They are also completely illuminated; the energy is generated by solar panels.
The Bungalows are mostly built with materials from the area, respectfully taking the local architecture. For construction we use traditional palm tree roofs (criznejas) and reforestable wood from the area.
We can accommodate the bungalows according to your request, Simple Bungalow (for a single person), matrimonial (one large bed for two persons), Double Bungalow (with two beds), Triple Bungalow (with three beds) and Family Bungalow (couples with children with up to four beds).
Offering our travelers comfort, safety and cleanliness, without sacrificing the authenticity of the experience of being in contact with the primary jungle.
